Brian

Most of my posts are about how amazing and cute Benjamin is, so I thought I'd tell you about my Brian.

- He has the softest, dare I say prettiest, feet ever. He calls them his woman feet.

- He has to put something together the moment we get it. We'll go to Ikea or Target and he'll have to install or put together or hang whatever we bought. It used to drive me nuts but I have come to really love that about him.

- He basically refuses to cook but loves to grill.

- Every time he changes his own oil, he swears it will be the last time.

- He ADORES his son.

- He's the funniest person I have ever met.

- He loves practical jokes.

- He likes to scare people...when it's quiet, he'll yell really loud to scare you.

- He'd do anything for anyone.

- He loves his family more than anything.

- He talks to his mom or dad almost every day.

- He prays over Ben every night when he tucks him in.

- He loves doing date nights.

- If he had his way, he'd have a new vehicle every two years.

- He cannot wait for us to have another child.

- He hates driving longer than 1 hour a time. He starts running in place at about hour 2.

- He thinks his cat is really a dog.

- He is a major animal lover. He lets Tony suck on his shirt and Annie lick his hands.

- He has the best smile.

- He finds humor in almost everything.

- He likes artsy movies and English rock bands.

- He's an amazing artist.

- He loves building things...except metal sheds. I don't think he'll ever do that again.

- He's a baby when he's sick. :)

- No matter what I do, his mom's spaghetti will always be better than mine.

We've been married six years now and I considered myself incredibly blessed to get to share my life with him.

Poor Tony!

Brian gave Tony, our massive cat, a bath. HILARIOUS! Brian swears Tony doesn't mind when he gets a bath. I'm not so sure...Tony is hiding in a closet right now.

Cuteness

For some reason, I hate it when Ben plays with the laundry baskets. Even I had to admit this was pretty stinkin' cute. He's jumping on something called a "Fat-Sak." It's like a bean-bag on steroids. Since he's two, he's quickly distracted by pictures after his jump.

Question: Am I the only one who "blog stalks"? This is when you read a blog of an acquaintance but never comment b/c you didn't really know them that well. I do this for one blog in particular...it's so fun and cute and well written. I feel so nosy. Don't judge me.

Haircut and Hiding

Ben and Brian went to get a haircut on MLK day. They both looked super cute afterward. Ben did not want his picture taken and hid from me in his Thomas the Train tent when I brought out the camera. I'm very persistent.

Long Weekend

This past weekend was pretty crazy for us, but we got to see quite a few people that we haven't seen in awhile. Friday night, we had Rachel and Josh come up and we all went to dinner. Rachel loves little Ben and he adores her. She basically took care of him the entire meal. I think they both ended up with spaghetti sauce on their clothing. Then on Saturday, my sister and brother-in-law came down for my cousin's b-day party that night. It was tons of fun and we were able to catch up...Emily took care of Ben the entire time, so again, Brian and I got to eat an entire meal pretty much un-interrupted. Thanks Emily!! On Sunday, we drove to Austin and met Brian's mom, dad, and brother John at the Saltgrass for a late lunch. Ben had a blast with his Mimi and we always enjoy catching up with John. The only way it could've been better was if Carrie, Karis, and the boys had been there as well. And on Monday...we did NOTHING! My house was already clean from the company we had, groceries were bought. I took a three hour nap that morning and was in bed by 10 p.m. What a great weekend!

Helper

Ben's new thing is "helpin'." I'm so excited about this...plus it's stinkin' cute. It actually motivates me to do the dishes...sad, right? He's also into "mow-nies" or money. So he gets some money when he helps me out.

Pink is the new blue...

About a month ago, some friends gave us an enormous pack of pull-ups that their child didn't end up using (Lucky people with a potty trained child!!!). Because pull-ups and diapers are so stinkin' expensive, we gladly took them and have been using the freebies ever since. Here's the catch...our friends have a little girl and the pull-ups are pink with flowers, etc. Of course Ben has no clue...and it only slightly disturbs Brian and I. No picture though...

Wobots

I bought Ben a new sweatshirt...it was two bucks! He is really into robots ("wobots") and Batman ("atman"). He wore it most of yesterday and found it in the dirty clothes this morning and wanted to put it on again. Don't judge me, but I put it back on him. How can I say no to "wobot," right? Miraculously, it was still clean.

A gift, from Ben to Mommy and Daddy

Ben is greatly improved, less gross nose wipes and coughing. I have almost totally lost my voice and think I'm running a slight fever. I am addicted to chapstick b/c I haven't breathed out of my nose in about two days. But something wonderful just happened...Ben went to bed, in his own bed, with less than five minutes of crying. Knock on wood...we're still in the danger zone where he could wake up at any moment. I'm cautiously optimistic. I think Ben knew I couldn't handle much tonight. So, THANKS BEN!! MOMMY AND DADDY ARE SO HAPPY YOU ARE IN YOUR OWN BED AND ASLEEP BY 8:45!!

RSV

I'm on day 3 of staying home with a sick Benjamin. I was wanting to just wait it out. I HATE going to the doctor, spending 30 bucks and have them tell me it's a virus, nothing we can do. I broke down and took him first thing this morning. He was an absolute angel at the doctor's office. They ran the little test and, yep, he has RSV. Thankfully he's old enough that it's not too big of a deal. He can't go back to daycare or be around other kids until Monday. Which means I'm chained to the house for a full week. I think he has the worst of it today...he's miserable.

Spoiled (forgive the whining)

Ever since Ben was four months old, he has slept through the night. When we did the whole toddler bed thing, he'd go down without any problems. Now we've got problems. We've tried a queen sized bed, we've tried letting him sleep with us (I know, I know), and now we are trying a twin mattress in his room. Brian found the mattress on Craigslist (which kind of grossed me out at first) and it ended up being from a nice family in an even nicer neighborhood, so we went with it. The last three nights have been awful. It has taken us over an hour to get him to sleep and he still wakes up a couple times during the night. The absolute worst part is the crying, b/c he is almost always crying for me...I think he knows I'm a softy. I am so thankful that Brian and I are a team in this. We switch off nights so that we don't lose our minds. It will get better, right???

We don't even have a bed frame at this point. Hopefully we can take care of that this week. Brian is "waiting on a bargain." :) We're also hunting for headboard and bedding. I really like this one...what do you think?
